Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Father of Child Wants No Involvment

I delivered a baby whose father is married and already has two children. He's made it clear from the beginning he did not want this pregnancy to go through wants nothing to do with current child from me. Is he legally able to give up all rights to the child to me and if so, how does that concern me financially. Will he still be obligated to pay me child support or does he give up all responsibility. I don't want him to have a relationship with the child if he doesn't want it, but financially I would need his help whatever little I can get. Thank you.

Re: Father of Child Wants No Involvment

If you have established paternity, and he will waive his parental rights you can file a petition to terminate his rights and have it resolve pretty quickly (unless the state get involved because of state assistance). If his parental rights are terminated, his legal parental responsibilities are terminated also (child support).
