Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
father loss of income
Child support-paying, non-custodial father recently was fired from his job and unilaterally is proposing dramatic drop in payments based on unemployment payments. What recourse do we have to include his extensive investments/family wealth in his support calculations, to obtain back payments when he does finally get a job, to more frequently review his income as it increases to prior levels?

Re: father loss of income
The law requires that only his current level of income be taken into account. If he has investments in hi sname, then those can be considered. However, "family investments" in the name of others are not considered. Back payments are not allowed to be increased as his current support cannot be changed without a court order to that effect. You shoul dsee a family law lawyer about this ASAP.
