Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
won't give property back
If you store a car at your friends mother's home and paid her monthly, then your friend who you were living with evicted you of her home and made you homeless, now says you can not have the car because you owe her mother $200.00. Can they hold onto the car and ring up a bigger bill? There was no signed contract about paying.
Thank you

Distress for rent was outlawed in Washington in 1973. They cannot refuse to return your property.
A signed contract is not the point. Verbal contracts are effective. You are right.
They are incorrect to keep your car. You'll need to have an attorney help you with the details. Call your local county Bar association.
