Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Grandparents rights of adoption
My 20 year old daughter who is a drug addict is pregnant, and says she does not want her child. She is 8 months pregnant. She has offered the child to a friend of ours for adoption. Do we as grandparents have to right to assume care for the Child instead of it going up for adoption?

Re: Grandparents rights of adoption
Grandparents have no superior right to adopt a child over anyone else. If the child is removed by CPS from the mother's care, then a family placement may be attempted to temporarily place the child with other family members, e.g., grandparents, siblings of a parent, etc.
