Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Guardian Ad Litem Reports
We are going thru a custody case (with my exboyfriend for my 15 yr old son). Our case was appointed a GAL. Her report was just submitted but most of what is in it is hearsay from what my ex told her. Now of the things stated in are ''facts'' but just quotes from him. He is an admitted extreme alcholic but she feels he is the ''better'' parent (he was also an absent parent for 14 yrs!). Anyways, I would like to file a grievance against her for some of her actions during the case (her son was in the room when she was questioning my 14 yr old son, her 16 yr old daughter had access to a printout i sent to her -the GAL admitted this to me in an email I kept, and many other things that were not ethical - she had also instructed me to leave some paperwork in my ex's possession ''so she could retrieve them'' but the paperwork got lost!). Our case is supposed to be july 30 but I haven't been served yet - how many days--name removed--I have to have notice of court date(I seen on the Linx webpage that it was set).?

Do you have a lawyer? If you do not you should get one. If you do have one, you should be communicating with them, not asking for "second opinions" from websites.
Pierce County has GAL grievance rules and process available.
You say your case will "be" July 30 - is that your trial date, or some other motion? CR5 and CR6 allow you to be served by mail and how much notice you get depends on what the proceeding is.
You are deemed to know all the rules of civil proceedure, all the caselaw, all the evidentiary rules and all local rules when you represent yourself.
Trying to become an attorney at the same time as you are going through a custody battle is probably not smart.
