Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Hiding assets in a Divorce case

I have a friend who is married but will be going through a divorce soon. Her husband is presently in jail and will remain there for awhile. The husband asked her to put 2 of their cars into his mothers name. His reason was: His Ex-wife was going to be seeking legal advise to determine how to get child support, he (the husband) didn't want the Ex-wife being awarded the 2 cars in exchange for support. My friend went to the license dept. w/ her mother-in-law and put the 2 cars in her name. Three weeks later the Husband tells my friend that he has petitioned for a divorce. We live in Wa. state which is a Community Property state. He is hiding assets (in my opinion) and we would like to know what to do from here and or how to prove it. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hiding assets in a Divorce case

The assets are not really hidden in that the wife knows where they are. She need to add them to his side of the property settlement and she should take an equal share of some other asset. I think property division is the least of her problems and she need to seek counsel immediately if not sooner. Good luck
