Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Does a housewife have a legal right to any of her husbands income?

I have been married for 22 years. My husband refuses to have my name on the bank account. He doles out money so sparingly that I have to beg for every cent. He doesn't even allow me to go grocery shopping alone... he goes with me so that he can control what I put in the cart.

Do I have any right to his income? Can I get my name on his bank account without his concent? Can I get a credit card?

I cook and clean and take good care of our home. It doesn't seem fair that I can't write a check, make a withdrawal or use a credit card.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

If the two of you do not agree on domestic finances (or any other issue) either party in Washington may seek a dissolution of marriage or separation. This moves the distribution of property and issues of spousal maintenance into the courts. I do work in Kitsap County or in the alternative I can make a recommendation about attorneys there.
