Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
My ex husband just informed me he no longer wants to pay child support for our 11 year old daughter. he doesnt see her and i dont want the support from him. he has offered to give up his parental rights how would i proceed and can we even do that. i am getting married in july and my soon to be husband will be more than happy to adopt her.

Yes, you can do that. The question is when. I generally caution against doing that too soon after the marriage due to the need to create a stable rather than an unstable situation for the child. The judge would probably have the same concern, as would the person doing the post-placement report. On the other hand, if the relationship is of long-standing, as was that of one of my clients, adoption soon after the wedding may be possible. (Then there was the client whose wife got him to adopt the kids because her ex wasn't paying support. A year after the adoption was final she took off with the kids and my client was stuck with child support.)
To handle an adoption, your best course would be to hire an attorney who handles adoptions.
