Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Instability of mother
Grandmother basically raised my son. We tried to prove mother unfit but courts said she was ''changing''. Grandmother has since passed away and now mother is left to raise child on own. She is incapable of caring for herself let alone her three kids all from different fathers.
Can excessive excused absences (she makes up reasons why he can't go to school) and poor academics help us prove that she is hampering the child's wellbeing? Especially if child is only 6 and state of Washington has complusory law of 8. Will teacher and counslor's words help our case, especially if they say he is coming to school tired and dirty?

Re: Instability of mother
Lack of school attendance and teacher and counselor notes are useful for supporting your proposal. Other factors are that she has not been primary residential parent until recently. I would expect to request a guardian ad litem or court appointed special advocate in this type of case. You should also be considering who else may be available who knows about your situation and that of the mother (witnesses), and yo may want to think about medical or other professionals who may have opportunities to make observation on your son's health and mother's care.
