Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Lawyers Bill

Let me rephase my last question about paying my lawyer another $6000 before a child custody court date. What I meant is if I can't pay him and he declines to represent me because of it. Can I go to court with no represention? Will I lose my child custody battle?

Re: Lawyers Bill

Yes, you can represent yourself. Preparation for a trial is a technical process, which lawyers have configured systems for. Your attorney wants to get his estimated fee for the trial preparation and trial ahead of the trial. (My anticipation of the attorney's fee for trial preparation and trial would be about $10,000 to $15,000).
