Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Leaving the State of Washington

Does a mother have the right to leave the State of Washington with her child without consent? The intent of her leaving is financial, she financially can't live in Washington any more, and wishes to live in Alaska near her family. Thank you for your time. Parent can leave state with children

The recent case of Littlefield answers your question in the affirmative.

Though only recent cases (last 90 days) are on the WA courts site, the case of Bower v. Reich, http://198.187.0.226/~COURTS/opinions/398130_O01.txt, follows Littlefield and will give you some idea of the court's reasoning on the matter.
