Re: Legal Seperations

Your question is way too general, I don't know where to start.

Look in Title 26, Domestic Relations and review what it says.

You can file a legal separation and there is no waiting period, unlike a dissolution. It does have to be personally served.

A legal separation functions as a demarcation line for the community. Afterwards, liabilities that would normally be community will be presumably the liability of the person incurring them.

People do this sometimes rather than a divorce when getting a divorce would leave a spouse without health insurance.

But the parties are still married. One cannot re-marry as one is not divorced.

I hope this helps. Powell
