Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

what are the legalities if you marry someone who had purchased a home prior to the marriage and my name is not on the home or in his will. He thinks we don't need to change anything or worry about because if he were to die everything automatically becomes mine since I'm the spouse. To complicate things he has 2 children. Both children have different mothers. I don't think that's the way it goes.
