Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
how have I lost my parental rights?
My son was taken away by the State of Washington for the alledged reason that the mother had a history of drug charges one while she was pregnant, also because she didn't have prenatal care and that we didn't have what they called an established resisdence at the time of birtg. I had no drug charges at all on my record and they are not allowing me to have the opotion to have custody of him even with her out of the pitcher. They want me to jump through hoops for over a year before I will even know if I can have him with restrictions. They want me to maintain resisdence for a year in Wash. which I don't want to do, because it takes me away from my family and friends, also I have to complete drug classes and parenting classes, report to a social worker reguarly, have supervised visitsand basically not be involvrd in my sons life. I have done nothing wrong, how can they do this?

Without the CPS report(s) and a more complete set of the facts relating to your situation, it is not practical to make a determination about your situation. I should tell you that the general criteria that CPS and the courts look at is the best interest and safety of the the child, your parental rights are secondary to that.
