Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

marring

I am currently engaged to be married, she is pregnant with my child currently. She got married 10 yrs. ago, in Idaho. At the time she was on drugs and in a very abusive relationship, she was forced to get married to this man. Shortly after the marriage she ran away from him, and hasn't seen him since. My question is, we are not sure if the divorce is finalized and we want to get married a.s.a.p., what would happen if we decided to get married regardless of knowing for sure if it is finalized? sincerly, ''worried''

That's easy. You'd be a bigamist.

I would call the county clerk in Idaho and see if they will check their files for you. They may do it over the phone.

You might also check with an Idaho lawyer who could also advise your fiance on what needs to be done if she is still married.
