Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

military retirement and perjury

If the court granted me 17% of his retirement pay but it was not recorded in the final childsupport order can I get it entered in a final order for custody?

Also, if you give false statement in a declaration and false signature on other one is it considered as perjury?

Re: military retirement and perjury

I just answered your question about where to recite the retirement distribution.

Statements provided by parties or witnesses to the Court are privledged. What litigants have to tell the court is so important that the Court will seldom if ever take any action against the litigant.

I know that seems really unfair, but all that happens is the declarant's credibility can be attacked, but that is really about it.

People can and do say the most outrageous things in declarations.

Forging signatures is different.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
