Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Mom is bad news

I have 3 kids 2 girls 15 and 12 1 boy 11. What do you when the mom is constantly telling your kids to power trip you and also to tell them to run away if they don't get their way? How about when she constantly leaves the kids alone to wear something might have happened? We tried to take one of the kids to the counselor--name removed--regarding this issue but soon as we got her there she wouldn't go in. The 2nd visit we were able to take her but then she told her mom. Her mom told her that she is no longer to talk to her ..period. They are very intimidated by her she is an alcoholic and is verbally abusive. She told her girl that your dad is just tring to make me a bad parent. When she gets to the house she talks alot should we just record everything then take to court? During the divorce the guardian at litem said there wasn't even enought to get a divorce and that they don't even see a problem with her...on that day she got a DUI! I am afraid of my children--name removed--saftey.

My son is severe stomache problems and she denies it and doesn't give his medicine to him like directed. I am running out of money and I already mentioned this in court the first time and no results. What to do?

Re: Mom is bad news

A GAL would not say there was not enough to get a divorce, putting that in a report or saying it in open court would ruin the professional reputation of GAL. In Washington state, that one person wants to be divorced is enough for a divorce. There are several pieces of information that would be useful, that you did not provide. I am going to presume there is a parenting plan and that the mother is the primary residential parent. Your remedy for the situation is to file for a major modification of the parenting plan. You should be sure to have your evidence of the mother's difficulties ready. You should consider retaining counsel for this. You will probably want to do discovery, and an attorney will know how to do that.
