My son owns his own business in Washington state. His wife who does not own the business wants half of vechicles owned by the business, 60% of the house and now claims she owns 90 shares of the business which she never bought. His brother owns 500 shares. He wants to know if she can be awarded anything owned by his business. (company assets) He has a Porche and a loaded 2005 expedition.

The short answer to the exact question is yes. The long answer is that it depends. There are several factors that a court would consider in allocating property and debt. This is an issue of community v separate property. The comparable assets and income of the parties would considered in allocaiton of property and debt. Contribution to the business and whether it was started before the marriage, how long it was operating before the marriage would also be considerations.
