Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
How can i get out of my mothers custody and move elsewhere?
I am 16 years old and will be 17 in April. My parents are
divorced and I am in my mothers custody. My father
lives in another part of the state. My mother and i have
various problems with eachother, mainly because she
can barely afford housing. I would like to know how I
could get out of my mothers custody and move to Texas
with my boyfriend and his family and enroll in school.
Could i possibly be in the custody of my boyfriend who
is over 18? Or would i be able to get into my father's
custody and move down there? What rights do I have at
17 ?

Unless your mother agrees to a modification of the parenting plan, the change that you propose is not likely to happen (it is a major change, and you have not described conditions that support a major change). As for naming your boyfriend to have custody, think about the legal liability that may be generated by his having legal control and your having anything beyond a platonic relationship. Emancipation is where this leads, but I don't have enough information to comment on your prospects of effecting that, except that the burden is on you to prove that your can function as an emancipated person.
