Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

parenting plan

if we both agree on the parenting plan and have had an attorney write it up correctly, can we just have a judge sign or does the attorney have to be present? We don't want to pay the attorney $150 an hour for7 hours of driving.

Re: parenting plan

The value of having counsel draft the thing is to ensure it is effective. If you are both in agreement (you and your ex-significant other/spouse) you can both sign it and you can send it for entry by the court by mail. There is no need to send an attorney to drive that far.

Hope this helps. Powell
