Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Parenting Plan

My daughter has an 18 month old son. Her and the father are not married and no longer together. because of his abusive ways and anger problem, the jugde ordered supervised visits. After six short visits being supervised, the judge ordered overnights every other weekend, unsupervised. The bbay has came hoome soaking wet, he has come home hitting when he has never hit before. What does my daughter do? Her ex boyfriend wants to go back and finalize a parenting plan. She doesn't. Just today the baby cried when he saw his apartment.. He never acts this way, never! Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Parenting Plan

First off, this is your daughter's issue, not yours. I'm not trying to be rude.

Each and every time the baby comes home you start with a bath. Check the baby head to toe (without being obvious about it).

If you see bruises, call the cops. Right then. Report the problem immediately.

A wet diaper just doesn't rise to the same level.

Her ex's wants are not determinative; it is what the judge wants that controls.

Is there a parenting investigator appointed?

She needs counsel. Call the local bar and ask for a clinic referral if nothing else.

Accusing the other party of child abuse can backfire badly if you cannot prove it. So, her job is to prove the problem exists.

Hope that helps. Elizabeth Powell
