Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Parenting Plan Modification

I left my husband two years ago for domestic violence. I though it was just that he hated me though. We were finally divorced in February 07 and I let him have her every other weekend and two weeks vacation per year. About two weeks ago his girlfriend sent me a text message telling me that he does the same thing to her. This is the first time I have ever spoken to her and they have been together for a year. I want to change his custody to supervised visitation only because I'm afraid he might his my 4 year old daughter. My problem is she won't give me a statement because she's afraid of him yet still wants to be with him. What should I do?

Re: Parenting Plan Modification

Wow. That's gross.

That said, you really, really need an attorney who can deal with this - review your evidence, hire a PI to watch your ex, pull his criminal history, etc.

You have a duty to protect your child. The sooner you get started on this the sooner she's protected.

If it is true there is a way to prove it. DON'T ask your child anything right now, child hearsay is useless.

You might want to look at a v v o dot com to see if you can find an attorney who handles this stuff locally. There are thousands of attorneys in Seattle. I can think of Jennifer Apitz in Auburn - she is very good at this sort of thing.

It will cost money.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
