How so parties end a legal separation agreement? before it is officialy signed by the two parties involved?

I am not sure what the expression "officially signed" means versus just "signed." If it has not been signed then their is effectively no agreement, in theory spoken agreements could be entered, but unless the parties agree in open court on what the agreement was, it would in all probability not be recognized by the court.
