Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

paternity and child support

I married a woman and 6 months later we separated, during separation she got pregnant. I agreed to raise the child but due to work commuting and troubles with our relationship, my time with the child was very limited. Now she wants a divorce and wants to take the child from me. I am not the biological father of the child. she claims she doesn't know who the father is. will i end up paying child support for a child not mine, because the child was born during our marriage?

Re: paternity and child support

This may depend on whether you signed the application for birth certificate and asserted paternity, or whether you have signed an affidavit of paternity. A factor that would weigh into this also is whether you were legally separated or just living apart at the time of pregnancy.

The answer to your question is a possible yes, but many factors (I've only mentioned the ones that come quickly to mind) can affect the answer.
