Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Getting The Power and Phone To Stay On During Divorce
Just a few days ago, I have filed for a protection order and divorce against my husband. He has already shut off the phones and I am expecting the power to be shut off tomorrow.
I need the phone to make all the needed calls to get a job and make moving arrangements. I need electricity to keep the food in the refrigerator from spoiling and cooking, to clean with and to shower and I have two young sons to care for.
How can I get him court ordered to turn on a phone and keep the power from being shut off during the divorce proceedings?
For anyone that helps, I am in the Pierce Country Court jurisdiction in Washington State.
Thank you,

Re: Getting The Power and Phone To Stay On During Divorce
You should file a motion in ex parte asking for the temporary relief you need, you will then have to have a hearing scheduled for temporary orders and get him served with the ex parte order and notice of hearing. You will usually get you some relief for some short time, pending a hearing.
