Re: private investigator's rights and restrictions

Private Investigators have no more right to take property than any other person. So Generally, taking property without the possessor's consent or without a court order is taking a chance of being involved in a criminal act called theft or if taking it with a direct confrontation that could be interpreted as an offer of force-robbery, or by unathorized taking within a home or place of work without confrontation-burglary (if the taking is ultimately determined to be theft). This taking would unless supported by some authorization also be a civil wrong.
