Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Repercussion of divorce

My wife had an affair with a co-worker who was himself married after he had chased her around the office for months. Can I sue her company for allowing something that has ruined my life?

Re: Repercussion of divorce

Washington is a no-fault jurisdiction, and the only person you can name as a respondent in a dissolution is your spouse.

Alienation of affection lawsuits went out with hoopskirts. You are not going to be able to establish a causal nexus between the company and the conduct of the co-worker, especially if it was consensual.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell

This is not a family law question. There is no cause of action for alienation of affection in the State of Washington. You would need more than that the company tolerated the affair for the company to be liable. I don't think you have a cause of action here, but you might try resubmitting it under the tort law category.
