Separation / Divorce

My husband and I have separated and he had me served with legal separation papers. I have not responded to the summons yet and I want to have them changed to a divorce. How can I do this when I cannot afford and attorney?

If the separation provisions are acceptable to you if they were permanent, you can allow them to be entered in the separtion, and either party may on motion convert the separation to a divorce (with the terms unchanged) six months after the separation decree is entered.
