Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Separation of financial liability and property
In the state of Washington is a legal separation enough to keep my wife from forcing me to sell a home I purchase (post filing) and taking part of the proceeds? If so at what point does the protection take effect?

Re: Separation of financial liability and property
The answer to that would depend on whether the money used to purchase the house could be characterized as separate property or community property, and depending on whether the money was allocated to you as part of the property distribution in the separation.
