Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
''serving'' a lawyer in lieu of the client?
my mom is trying to get a divorce from an 11 yr marriage - partly because of domestic violence. the guy has fled back to India where he retired but it has been difficult to ''serve'' him wth papers. Can my mom's lawyer (here) serve his lawyer (here) representing him for the divorce as a proxy?
both parties are u.s. citizens, (both married here) - mom has returned to the u.s. while he stays in India & argues u.s. courts have no jurisdiction over him, them or the marriage.

If she has a lawyer, she should address this question to him/her. The answer is maybe, because it depends on factors you have not addressed.
