slander
Is slandering someone still a legal civil matter even if the one doing the slander is a family member?

Re: slander
This is not a family law matter. Defamation (includes slander and libel in Washington) is a tort (civil wrong), and generally family members are not immune. I know that parents and children are not immune, but I've never checked on husbands and wives.

Re: slander
Defamation can occur between family members and there is no immunity because of the family relationship.
There is more to it, of course. Hope this helps - Elizabeth Powell
