cause is stayed; order under advisement

What does it mean when a docket entry says ''cause is stayed pending further order'' and ''by court taken under advisement''?

Re: cause is stayed; order under advisement

It means the court has not yet made a decision for some reason or another.

Lawsuits sometimes get stayed (stopped) because a party takes a bankruptcy, or an appeal.

Lawsuits sometimes have a hearing and the court wants time to consider its decision before issuing its decision.

It happens. Why it happens, I can't tell you without a lot more information.

Hope this helps - Elizabeth Powell
