Step-Mother

Is there anyway or what would the situation have to be to get some type of order that would not allow my son's father to leave our son unattended with his step-mother?

Generally speaking what the father does during his residential time with the child, including delegating child care to his wife or other person, is not per se objectionable.

If the other person is a known child abuser, that might be different. But barring that magnitude of unsuitability, I would not suggest you try to change the parenting plan. Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
