I would like to know the washington state laws about what is required to terminate a parents rights.

Domestic violence is an issue and the parent is not allowed to see the children.

Re: Terminating parental rights

This is not a simple question. The statutes are found in Chapter 13.34 RCW at http://search.leg.wa.gov/wslrcw/RCW%20%2013%20%20TITLE/RCW%20%2013%20.%2034%20%20CHAPTER/RCW%20%2013%20.%2034%20%20chapter.htm.

In particular, see RCW 13.34.180 and .190. But to get a full picture you need to read the case that deal with them. The case of K.R. is important.

The key is really how well you cooperated with the disposition order of the dependency court.

If you don't have a lawyer fighting for you, get one. If you are the grandparent, you have first right to the children after termination.
