Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Therapy Disclosure by Child 14 or older

My daughter sees a therapist. The therapist thinks she has bi-polar disorder. Her father lives in New York and disagrees with the diagnosis. He wants to see her records. I told him he could not because now that she is 14 years old, he must have her permission. Am I correct?

Re: Therapy Disclosure by Child 14 or older

The answer to your question should come from your child's therapist. He or she definitely will know because of the recent changes in the patient privacy law.
