Verbal Maintenance Agreement
My ex and I divorced on good terms. Our dissolution of marriage states that no maintenance would be paid by either party, but we had a verbal agreement that he would help me out financially. Now he's decided not to honor our agreement. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Verbal Maintenance Agreement
There's no child support transfer payment mentioned in your question, so I have to presume there are no children.
Read the decree again. Does it say that the "no maintenance" decision is non-modifiable? Does it mention anything about circumstances that would change that?
Or does it just say "no maintenance"?
It is very hard to enforce a verbal agreement when there is a judge's order that says otherwise.
Did anybody else hear him say this? I am afraid you have an uphill battle to contradict the decree if this was a side agreement with no writing.
Sorry about that. Elizabeth Powell
