Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
visitation
Our parenting plan is out-dated, I've already gotten the new forms, but am confused by the legal jargen and have difficulty filling them out correctly. What steps do I take to make sure it is done right, if I cant afford a lawyer.

Re: visitation
New Rules of Professional Conduct allow attorneys to handle discrete tasks, such as drafting parenting plans, instead of taking on responsibility for entire cases. You could certainly look for a family law attorney who could draft just the Parenting Plan, rather than trying to educate yourself and draft it yourself. That would keep the costs down.
Alternatively, many counties have facilitators at the Courthouse who can help you. Their appointments are booked out in advance, so you probably want to call first. They usually have a sliding-scale fee for an hour.
And lastly, your local county Bar association can direct you to a neighborhood clinic, low income civil clinic, or a family law clinic where you can discuss this with an attorney and get some advice on how to handle this.
