Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

What will it take to move to another city with my children?

In my divorce papers, it states that I need to file papers to move out of state. I must supply 60 days before I plan to move. My questions are 1)What do I need to file. 2) Do need a lawyer to do so? 3)Will the court stop me from going even though my ex is several 1000's behind in child support, has never made a maitenance payment, has no job, but living on an expensive golf course, has told friends that he doesn't plan on going to work anytime soon. ''It serves her right.'' Meaning me. 4)I have a place in NM for free for a year and a possible job offer. I cannot make it here financially. How do I get started? Thank you for any help you can give.

The Parental Relocation Act governs your situation. The lack of payment of child support or maintenance has nothing to do with the relocation of a child. Look at the synopsis of the act in your parenting plan. You can try and do it yourself if you feel you can handle all of the paperwork and timing requirements. I would charge $2,000.00 to handle a fully contested relocation request. And yes, the court can prevent you from moving out of your child's school district. By the way, with no job or income, how is it that your ex-spouse can live in a golf course home? Who is paying his bills and putting food on his table? Please call me if you wish to discuss this situation.
