Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Wrong date on Temporary Order for Visitation/Custody

Me and my ex (never married) are going thru a custody case of my 15 yr old son. I have been the legal custodial parent now all his life. My ex has him, filed a restraining order and now had the judge grant him Temporary custody pending a report from GAL. The judge (he was actually a commisioner) was not very attentive when we were at the hearing, kept interrupting us when we spoke - he seemed in a big hurry to get thru cases...anyways, he signed the wrong date (year) on the Temporary order granting my ex the custody. It was supposed to be January 4, 2007 but instead signed it and dated it January 4. 2006. Does this still stand as a legal document? (my ex was acting as his own attorney and filled out the paper signed by the commisioner.)

Re: Wrong date on Temporary Order for Visitation/Custody

This happens often enough that it even has a name. It is called a scrivner's error and can be corrected without affecting the substantial content of the order.
