Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

creditor liens from AZ to WA

Can a creditor from AZ bring a judgement accross state boundries to WA? Would I have an oppertunity to challange the lien when it is filed in WA, or is my chance limited to AZ? (This is a bogus claim, but they are costing me too much to fight it in AZ.) Thank you.

Re: creditor liens from AZ to WA

Yes, WA will give full faith and credit to a judgment entered in another state.

Your opportunity to argue about the underlying basis ended when the judgment was finalized in AZ.

Your best bet is to figure out how to pay it off, because once it is domesticated here it will accrue interest at 12% until paid in full.

Hope this helps you evaluate what to do now. Elizabeth Powell
