Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington
Defamation of Character
My spouse is an officer in the US Army who was falsely accused of sexual harassment by one of the lieutenants in his company. Several statements were obtained from first hand witnesses (through his attorney) that proved beyond a doubt that her statements were false and that she had encouraged other soldiers (enlisted) to make similar false claims. While this matter was handled administratively by the military, as a result of her false claims, he was relieved of command from the company he was commanding and we have spent close to $8, 000 for his defense. If not for her false statements, he would not have incurred the embarassment of such a situation and we would not have incurred the financial expense. Is it possible for us to bring charges against her for defamation? If not, what, if any, recourse do we have?

Re: Defamation of Character
You need to call a attorney in Lakewood named Bruce Baxter. he will know. He was an officer for years before becoming a very well regarded attorney.
Seems to me your claim is for malicious prosection too. But ask Bruce.
