Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

Discovery

I have a pro se case in WA State. I am in need of some legal research that I have not been successful with on my own. I am not an attorney. but thought maybe you either might take this on or direct me to someone who can.

I need case law reference (hopefully published and hopefully WA State or maybe Federal that will support the following:

I am a sole officer of a non-profit humane society incorporated in WA State. The corporate Bank account is in WA State. I have a private business on Indian Reservation land (Sovereign Nation).

I volunteer my time at that business. I receive donations to the non-profit corp. as payment for the services provided on the reservation.

I need case law that protects the corporate account in the State of WA from discovery for money donated to it on a Reservation.

By the way the case is v. me as an individual not v. the non-profit.

Re: Discovery

You have a fairly complicated case on your hands. You need an attorney who can cope with soveriegn nation status, non-for-profit issues, and the firewall between the not-for-profit org. and you as an individual, and this is all without knowing what the suit is about.

Discovery is the process of information - gathering; the interrogatories do not even have to ask for relevant information, just information that could lead to relevant information. Your request for caselaw protecting your discoverable information is likely not going to get you what you want. If you DON'T produce the information they are requesting, you likely will face sanctions.

You'd be better off hiring counsel than trying to do this yourself, as your request clearly indicates to me that you are in over your head. (I am not trying to be rude, just honest!) Good luck. Powell
