Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

Libel?

I just found a message board in which a woman has said about me

''this woman is crazy'' and ''judge saw thru her lies'' and that I have made ''false allegations'' against her daughter and ''this woman has fooled judges before against us''

These postings were to a church message board that is through the church/private school my daughter used to attend.

this woman's daughter has criminal charges against her in which I'm the victim .

She's apparently been posting for some time and has others posting about me too.

Is this legal? Is it libel? Is there anything I can do to stop the humiliation?

Re: Libel?

Yes, Libel and slander are the spreading of falsehoods that cause injury to the reputation of a person. You can sue her for such. The question is do you have the money to pay a lawyer for such a lawsuit and does she have any money making it worth while to sue her?

Re: Libel?

Mr. White answered this quite well. Defamation is actionable, but you need to think it through carefully.
