Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

received unwanted item in mail-now they want to charge me.

I ordered an auto. alarm for $125. on the internet. Received the alarm 5 weeks later & installed it(took nearly 2 days). 3 more weeks go by and the company calls to say that they sent a much more expensive alarm and they want it to be sent back. Then they will send the one I originally ordered. Or they want to just charge my credit card for the difference. What do I do?? It would take at least 1 more day to un-install. Then 2-5 weeks to send back, then 2-5 weeks to get new alarm which I would have to take 2 days to re-install. Could this possibly be right? I don't want to pay for something I never even ordered-the packing slip says $125. thanks, Dave

I would call some outfit that installs similar alarms and find out what the cost of installation and deinstallation would be. Then tell the company you would be happy to exchange the product, and that you would return the more expensive product COD upon (1) their payment of your bill to them for your labor for both one install and one deinstall (at the price you got from the alarm installer), and (2) your receipt of the proper product.
