Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

slander

I am a in home healthcare attendant for the disabled and the elderly, I hade one of my clients say I had taken some of there medication. this in turn caused me to have to go through a investigation through the A.P.S. and have to be suspended until the matter is taken care of. I have been reasured from my employer that they know that this not true, and this client has done this in the past with others. And that I will be cleard of any wrong doing, but they still have to do the investigation and follow protacal. This is all fine and dandy. except this is my carreer and my name in jepordy.not to mention the clients of mine that have to suffer due to me not being able to return to work. and I also can not afford to be off work. Can I sue this person for slander and lost wages?

I know this person is disabled, but I also know that they are abusing the system by other means and can afford to pay something for this wrongful claim.

Re: slander

Well, with the caveat that this is not about their ability to pay for the harm they caused with the false report - they would be just as wrong if they were dead broke -

you certainly could consider consulting with an attorney who understands employment and personal injury.

It's not called slander anymore - the new term is defamation and something like 'loss of employment opportunity'.

Go shopping for a lawyer. See what they think.
