Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington

Changing a Tourist Visa into a Green Card for my Fiancee

My fiancee came here on a tourist visa, and not a fiancee visa from Argentina. We want to get married but we don't know how to change her status once the marriage has taken place to establish residency; so she can be free to work and drive, etc. What should we do?

Re: Changing a Tourist Visa into a Green Card for my Fiancee

Assuming you are a US citizen. If you get married, you need to file immigration petition for her and then she needs to file for change of status from tourist visa to permanent residence. She can file for work permit together with the change of status application. This is a complicated process, please call my office (503-626-7051) for more details.
