Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington
child support and immigration
A woman was with a non-US citizen for 8 years in the state of Washington, but they were never married. They are no longer together, but have a 2 year old daughter. If she legally tries to collect child support, might he get deported?

Re: child support and immigration
For the most part the child support and the immigration issues will be separate. The court can decide upon a parenting plan and child support without addressing his legal status. However, it would be in the woman's best interest to do what she can to assist the child's father in gaining lawful status in the Us - both for the sake of the child and to maximize his potential earnings.
