Do i have the right of becoming U.S Citizen?

i am 35 years old non U.S citizen,my mother is originally an American citizen and living in the States.i born in Turkey .Because my mother is an American, by the right of birth (jus sanguinis)can i still be an American citizen because i am over 18 years old??My parents divorced about 33 years ago .i have never applied to get a U.S citizenship or to a green card .My mother is ready to sponsor me about becoming an U.S citizen.So do i have the right of becoming U.S citizen directly OR do i have to apply for a green card first than wait 2-3 years to be a citizen??Thank you
