Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington
F1 on OPT married to US citizen
Hello,
the situation is the following. I have an OPT and a job.
The 10.13 I am getting married with US citizen.
The 10.18 I am going to Canada for a weekend.
What's my status ? Can I enter the US without problem? Does the fact that I am married change anything ?
Thank you so much!
Best

Re: F1 on OPT married to US citizen
Your status will remain F1/OPT. I would not mention your marriage at the border, and would suggest you apply to adjust your status (apply for a Green Card) upon your return from vacation in Canada. If you would like any further advice, feel free to call my office. Good luck.
