Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington

Resident??

I have been living in WA for 3 years now as an Internation student. Being married to a citizen, I am now adjusting my status. I would like to know how long I have to wait till I can return to university, this time as a resident. Is it a year from processing my green card, or a year from obtaining the green card?

Re: Resident??

It takes about 10-11 months for the final interview, from the date of filing a complete application for adjustment of status. Any omissions or errors add time. Good luck.

Re: Resident??

No one knows how long that will be. There is no set time period. If and when the INS grants you conditional resident status, after you have been interviewed, assuming that your marriage is less than 2 years old at the time of the grant of residence, you have all the rights and provileges of a LPR. I don't know how long it takes for a section 245 interview in WA.

Re: Resident??

This is a matter of State Law, not Immigration Law. Check with the office of the state attorney general.
